Candied Bacon Brownies Recipe

Here's all you need:
  1. 1 lb bacon {yes, a whole pound!}
  2. 1 1/4 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
  3. 1 stick butter {1/2 C}
  4. 1 C white sugar
  5. 1/2 C brown sugar plus 1/4 C + 2 Tbsp
  6. 4 eggs
  7. 1/4 C cocoa powder
  8. 1 1/2 C flour
  9. pinch of salt
  10. 2/3 C chopped California Walnuts, {if desired}

Here's all you do:
  1. Preheat oven to 350*
  2. Saute bacon until almost crispy, remove from pan and and finely chop.
  3. Drain grease from pan, reserving a 'splash' {I used a couple of teaspoons}
  4. Return bacon to pan and add 1/4 C + 2 Tbsp brown sugar, heating and stirring until coated. Remove to paper towel
  5. In saucepan on low heat, melt butter and chocolate until smooth
  6. Pour into large bowl, scrapping sides
  7. Beat in remaining sugars and the splash of bacon fat. Beat in eggs until smooth
  8. Mix in 1/2 C bacon and California Walnuts {if using}, pour into buttered 9 x 13 baking pan. Sprinkle remaining bacon on top
  9. Bake for 45-60 minutes
  10. Allow to cool before cutting
Makes 12 large {and very rich} brownies
